Overview
Advancing WRS Health’s commitment to clinician-centered workflow solutions, the new Time-Based Service Coding algorithm now empowers providers to accurately record, report, and bill for E/M services based on total time spent for the encounter.
The Service Coding Section
The Service Coding section has been repositioned to the top of Orders & Procedures page. A warning message is displayed if you select a code and your Total Time is zero.
View the Warning Text Details
To view the details related to the warning text, hover over the tooltip.
Add Time and Activities
Select the Add Time button to open the Add Time to the Note popup.
Click the Select dropdown to open the list of activities menu. From here, you can select one or more activities from the list.
Clicking anywhere in the popup window will close the list menu and display the selected activities as well as the Total Time.
Click Submit to save the changes to the time and activities details.
Assign an E/M Code to the Patient Note
The system auto-selects a code that is compliant with the time added to the note.
The code will also be added to the Current Procedures list.
If you select another E/M code aside from the suggested code in the Service Coding section, the Current Procedures list will also refresh and display the most recent selection.
Select the Type of the Patient Visit
You can change the type of patient visit from the dropdown menu.
Changing the Type of patient visit will prompt the system to display new coding advice (or warning) and a code will be auto-selected based on the time that was added to the note.
View the Total Time Details
Hovering on the Total Time tooltip displays the list of activities entered as well as time assigned to an activity.
View Note: Time & Activities
After the note is signed, time and/or activities may be part of the final note depending on your settings in the Time-Based Coding Setup page.
When only Include Total Time Spent in View Note is enabled, only Total Time is added in the signed note above the signature section.
When only Include Total Time Spent in View Note is enabled, only selected activities will be displayed.
When both Include Total Time Spent in View Note and Include Total Time Spent in View Note are enabled, then both items will be displayed.
