Frequently Asked Questions: Delegated Prescriptions Queue

The Delegated Prescriptions Queue is a dedicated interface that allows ancillary staff and mid-level providers to draft prescriptions while enabling Supervising Providers to review, approve, and send  controlled and non-controlled prescription efficiently.

This queue supports both non-controlled and controlled prescriptions, with enhanced oversight for medications requiring stricter regulatory compliance.

Who can use this feature?

Answer: The Delegated Prescriptions Queue is designed for Supervising Providers to streamline their workflow by consolidating all prescriptions delegated to them in one place.

  • Non-Controlled Rx Queue – Prescriptions can be reviewed, edited, and sent individually or in bulk.
  • Controlled Rx Queue – Prescriptions require additional authentication and must be reviewed and sent as on a per-patient basis by the Supervising Provider.

Where do I access the Delegated Prescriptions Queue?

Answer:

  1. Log in to your EHR.
  2. For Non Controlled Prescriptions: Navigate to EMR > Non-Controlled RX Queue to view all pending prescriptions delegated to you.
  3. For Controlled Prescriptions: Navigate to EMR > Non-Controlled RX Queue to view all pending prescriptions delegated to you.

Can I send prescriptions in bulk?

Answer:

  • Yes, for Non-Controlled prescriptions. All unsent prescriptions are pre-selected, and Supervising Providers can send them in bulk using the Send All Non-Controlled button.
  • Controlled prescriptions may be sent in bulk per patient, ensuring compliance with DEA and state regulations that still require provider-level approval for each prescription.
    • All unsent prescriptions per patient are pre-selected, and Supervising Providers can send them in bulk using the Send Controlled button.

How do I know if a prescription was successfully sent?

Answer: On the Sent Prescriptions section, the list includes visual status indicators:

  • Sent Prescriptions. Indicates that the electronic sending is in progress.
  • Received. Indicates that the pharmacy has received the request.
  • Failed. A red alert symbol indicates that sending has failed.
  • Canceled. The provider / sender cancels the sending of prescriptions.

Can I edit or reassign prescriptions?

Answer:

  • Yes. Click   Modify on a prescription row to review or update SIG (instructions, dosage, frequency, pharmacy, notes).
  • To assign/reassign to another provider, select the Supervising Provider from the dropdown.
  • Then hit Save to apply the changes.

Note: Reassigned prescriptions move to the new provider’s Delegated RX Queue.

What happens to archived prescriptions?

Answer: Prescriptions can be archived to keep the queue organized. Records in the Archived Prescriptions section can later be retrieved, modified, and sent to the pharmacy, following the same approval workflow.

How can I review logs of prescription activity?

Answer: You can review prescription activity using the following methods:

  1. From the patient chart:
