Setting Up an Outgoing Referral Order Set
Order Set
An Order set is a collection of pre-defined orders grouped together to address a specific condition or clinical scenario.
Creating an order set for outgoing referrals allows the user to quickly select commonly used specialist or physician referrals directly from the Orders and Procedure section of the EMR Note. This approach enhances efficiency, reduces manual entry, and ensures consistency in managing referrals.
Creating an Order Set List
Users can create a new Order Set/Outgoing Referral panel by going to Administration > Order Tracking Setup > Order Set.
1.Under Order Set select Add Panel to create a new panel.
2. Add a Panel Name.
3. Click Add Referrals to add a specific referring physician’s name and/or specialty.
4. Add specific tests or CPT codes to the referral by searching for a code and adding to list.
5. Medications can also be added to the panel.
6. Click Save.
Adding to CPT Superbill
Once you have set up the outgoing referral panel, you can add it to the superbill for ease of selection in the EMR note by going to Administration > EMR Setup > CPT Superbill.
1. In the CPT Sperbill Management, go to the Referrals category and click Add Item.
2. Enter the Item Name of the referral you had created under order set – In this example ‘Cardiovascular’. It will then be made available in the drop down list.
You can then leave the default description, or elaborate upon it, then Save your new Referral.
Note: The OR code generated automatically is an internal WRS-created code for accurate population with the CPT generated module.
4. The new Referral will be added to the Referral category in the CPT Superbill.
5. The referral panel can then be added as in order in the Orders & Procedures section of the EMR Note.
