Re: | New Patient Registration Changes |
Items in this Release
- Required Fields for Preferred Options
- Removed Fields
Effective September 13, 2022, WRS will be changing the required fields in the patient registration. The changes are: 1) a social security number will no longer be required, and 2) an email address will be required when registering a patient. These changes apply to the “complete” and “portal compliant” options of patient registration for all practices.
Benefits of entering a valid email:
- Patient Portal Access
- Receipt of important communications such as patient education, appointment reminders, and practice updates
- When a valid email address is entered and a patient enters their information prior to the visit, the quality of the office visit increases due to less time spent by the provider entering data.
Required Fields for Preferred Options
Complete Patient Registration requires that the staff collect, at a minimum, the following items:
- First name
- Last name
- Date of Birth
- Sex
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- Street Address
- Zip Code
Figure 1: Complete Registration
Portal-Compliant Patient Registration Requires:
- First name
- Last name
- Date of Birth
- Sex
- Email Address
- Phone Number
Figure 2: Portal Compliant
Note: If a patient does not have an email address, you may enter nomail@email.com
Removed Fields
Patient’s entire social security numbers will no longer be visible in their patient management section, only the last 4 digits will be displayed. This removal applies to all methods of registration for all practices.
