Modifier Defaults (Procedure Code Modifiers)

STEPS
- To add a new modifier, select Add Modifier, then enter the 2-digit modifier and the description
- Enter 100 if the fee is the same with the modifier, or a percentage to increase or decrease the fee
- Enable “Display Alert” if applicable – See NOTES below
- Once saved, modifiers are now available on the modifier dropdown menu when creating claims on the CMS 1500 claim form
- To edit an existing Modifier, select the modifier number, make your changes , and select “save”
NOTES
- From this submenu, you can enter any modifiers that are used regularly. A modifier is a two digit code that is added to a procedure code to provide additional information about the billed procedure. The modifiers can then be set up to multiply or reduce the fee when applicable.
- From the submenu, you can also add a display alert to a modifier by checking this box, if this is enabled, the system will notify you if it thinks you need a modifier added to a procedure.
