Re: | Void Payments Permission |
- Void Payments Permission
We are excited to introduce an update that enhances the flexibility and security of payment management permissions. With this release, the Void Payments permission is now a standalone setting, allowing administrators to manage user roles more precisely without over-restricting access to essential reporting and payment tools.
Key Enhancements
Independent Void Payments Permission
- A new permission row labeled Void Payments has been introduced in the Permissions Tab.
- Admins can now grant or revoke void payment rights without affecting other payment-related tasks or access to saved reports.
Granular Role Assignments
- Staff without “Void Payments” permission can still:
- Edit payment amounts and dates
- Tag payments as unpostable
- Add comments to payments
- View and download saved reports
Dynamic Permission Validation
- The system dynamically checks a user’s assigned permissions upon accessing the Payment Editing Tool page.
- If the Void Payments permission is disabled, the void button will be hidden from the interface.
Improved Admin Control
- Admins can enable or disable the Void Payments permission in real time through the Permissions tab.
- Changes take effect after users log out and log back in, without requiring system restarts.
Default Behavior for Existing Users
The Void Payments permission is enabled by default for users with Payment Management > Edit permission unless manually revoked by an admin.
What It Means for Your and Your Practice
- Enhanced Security – Reduces operational risks by preventing unauthorized voiding of payments.
- Greater Flexibility – Allows staff to perform payment-related tasks without unnecessary restrictions.
- Improved Administrative Control – Admins can now fine-tune user roles and permissions more effectively.
Next Steps
Admins should review staff permissions and update the Void Payments setting as needed.
Users with existing Payment Management > Edit permissions will retain access to void payments unless adjusted by an admin.
